Conservation Tips

Water Conservation Tips

  • Repair leaky faucets, pipes, and toilets. Check your water meter often for leaks. Contact the District office if you need help locating your water meter.
  • Insulate hot water pipes to reduce heat loss and time to clear cold water
  • Install low flow shower heads, but more may be saved by manually reducing the flow.
  • Turn the water off while brushing your teeth.
  • Only run clothes washers and dishwashers with full loads.
  • Many toilet tank valves can be adjusted to use less water.
  • Water at night to minimize evaporation.
  • Adjust setting on programmable timers to avoid over watering.
  • Save sink water from inside the house to water outside plants.
  • Use a broom or blower to clean off decks and driveways instead of water.
  • Adopt your local fire hydrant and notify the District office if someone is stealing water.
  • If you have a swimming pool, add a pool cover to greatly reduce evaporation.
  • If you need water for special circumstances (filling swimming pools, etc.) buy from local water vendors.
  • These are just some of the many water saving tips that your family can use. If you have any questions, feel free to call the District office between the hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday closed for lunch from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at 530-241-6264. Thank You.
